Renting the right number of portable restrooms is only half the job. Where you place them has a huge effect on how well they work, how clean they stay, and how your event flows. A little planning here goes a long way toward keeping guests comfortable and drivers able to service the units.

Start with firm, level ground. Units placed on soft or sloping ground can become unstable and unpleasant to use, and rain makes it worse. Choose a spot with good drainage and stable footing, and avoid low areas where water collects. On grass or gravel, make sure a service truck can reach the unit without tearing up the property.

Balance visibility with discretion. Guests should be able to find restrooms easily, so place them along natural walking paths and near gathering areas, but keep them out of direct sightlines from the main stage, head table, or photo backdrops. For weddings especially, a unit that is convenient but tucked to the side is ideal.

Keep servicing in mind. Delivery and pickup trucks need clearance and a clear path to each unit, so avoid boxing units in behind tents, vehicles, or fencing that will be added later. If your event runs multiple days, the same access that made delivery easy will make mid-event servicing easy too.

Group amenities together. Placing handwashing stations right next to restrooms and near food service encourages good hygiene and keeps everything intuitive for guests. For large events, spreading several small clusters of units around the venue works better than one big bank of restrooms in a single corner.

When in doubt, ask your provider. A local team that knows the area can walk through placement with you, flag access issues before delivery day, and position everything for both convenience and cleanliness. Good placement is invisible to guests, which is exactly the point.
