For a five hour event with 100 guests you would want roughly two to three units, and the number climbs from there. Longer events mean more restroom trips per person, so a full-day festival needs more capacity per guest than a short afternoon gathering.

Alcohol changes the math. When drinks are served, guests use restrooms noticeably more often, so plan for roughly 20 to 30 percent more capacity than you would for a dry event. Weddings and receptions almost always fall into this category, which is one reason many hosts choose a mix of standard units and a luxury restroom trailer for comfort.

Do not forget accessibility. ADA accessible units are wider, include grab bars, and provide ground-level access for guests who use wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers. Including at least one ADA unit is both a courtesy and, for many public events, a requirement. Handwashing stations are the other easy win, especially anywhere food is served, and they dramatically improve the guest experience.

Finally, think about service. A single-day event may only need delivery and pickup, but a multi-day festival or a long weekend gathering benefits from mid-event servicing to keep units fresh.
